Wine Caneiro

Our Wine Caneiro

Viña Caneiro is produced from a single vineyard exclusively planted with the indigenous red mencia grape. Located in the Amandi sub-zone of the Ribeira Sacra, in the village of Doade, this vineyard is considered one of the finest locations in the region.

Viña Caneiro is an over 200-year-old, steeply terraced 1-hectare vineyard, planted on schist soils known locally as 'losa'.

Elaboration

The vineyard is traditionally terraced with Galician stone walls and features vines that plunge towards the Sil River, in one of the most picturesque and renowned areas of Ribeira Sacra.

The river's cooling influence adds a refreshing touch to the grapes, producing opulent Grand Cru-level wines with notes of dark fruit, exotic spices, and impressive structure. On the palate, Viña Caneiro reveals a bouquet of blackberries that opens up to dark currants, culminating in a long, stony finish.

This full-bodied red wine owes its serious structure to the prestigious terroir of its origin.

Vinification

After being manually harvested and placed in small boxes, the grapes undergo complete destemming and crushing before being spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
